Sustainability
Sustainability has been at the heart of the Baavet vision from its very beginning in 2009. So what makes Baavet products so sustainable?
- Baavet uses accredited 100% British Wool direct from local farmers. The wool is sheared annually from free range sheep which graze naturally. Baavet products use 100% Oeko-Tex certified cotton which is grown annually.
- Baavet wool and cotton are both biodegradable and any discarded wool or cotton break down safely in soil releasing nutrients back to the earth.
- Baavet products have zero micro-plastics; no harmful chemicals are used to process the wool to make it machine washable; the wool is not bleached; and the products are free from synthetic inter-liners.
- Baavets manufacturing process has a short and low impact transport supply chain reducing carbon emissions.
- Baavet products have natural longevity because the natural crimp and elasticity of wool fibres withstand constant wear extending the products life span.
- Wool is resistant to dust mites and bacteria, and wicks away moisture; therefore it is naturally odour resistant, reducing the need for frequent washing.
- Baavet has reduced its use of plastics to zero for its packaging by using cardboard and paper when sending out its products to customers.
- Baavet has little or no manufacturing waste by using its off-cut materials for its pet beds. Since the Ukraine war with Russia we have been sending all our clean returned duvets to the Ukraine, where they are given out to needy people in the poorer rural areas.
