Wool has natural antimicrobial properties, it also wicks away body moisture and dust mites don't like it as the fibres are so dry. So, no sweating, no dust mites, no bacteria.
Why do you need to
wash it? You
don’t.
However, some people make the mistake of machine washing their wool duvets, which can damage the natural properties of wool fibres. The good news is that with proper care, you can keep your wool duvet fresh and fully functional for many years without the need for aggressive washing.
Where possible avoid machine washing or taking it to the dry cleaners. These harsh processes can be detrimental to the wool. Also the chemicals used in the drycleaning process hang around and arn't good for your health.
Instead, freshen up your Baavet by hanging it out
in the sunshine. We recommend doing this as regularly as you can. Which of
course will also be dependent on how many sunny days you are getting.
The fresh air and UV light will work through the
fibres, naturally killing any bacteria or odours without compromising the
integrity of the wool.
If you do happen to spill
something on your wool duvet, don't panic. Spot clean the affected area
gently with a bit of water and a mild soap. Avoid scrubbing too vigorously,
as this can also damage the fibres. For tougher stains, try soaking the
area first before rinsing. The natural self-cleaning properties of wool are
quite remarkable, so with a little care you can easily remove most spotty
mishaps.
If there has been a serious soiiling only
machine wash on the delicate setting only or choose “green” and
trustworthy dry cleaners.
If
in doubt please follow the care instructions and if you have any questions
don't hesitate to contact our customer care team for help and
advice.
Remember, the less you wash your wool duvet, the better. With just occasional airing out in the sun and spot cleaning when necessary, you can maintain the breathability, softness, and long-lasting quality of your Baavet wool bedding for many comfortable years to come.
